How did you get started?

Since I can remember, I have always been a creative person. It started as drawing and painting as a child into my adolescence and that transitioned to photography when I was around 17 years old. I joined a photojournalism class and learned how to shoot on film and process it in a dark room. I was hooked from then on. Photography became an integral part of my life. A few years later, I traveled to visit family and came across old wedding pictures from my great grandparents. Being able to immerse me in the history, those moments, and relive that day with them, even though they were no longer here on earth with me, became an experience that led me into wedding photography and where I am today.

How long have you been in business? *

5+ years

Artistic, Classic, Vintage, Poetic, Intimate

What does owning a small business mean to you & why do you love it? *

I can passionately pursue photography and feel connected to my community. I can provide the best experience with my couples while giving them memories that will last a lifetime.

What sets your business apart? *

I go beyond the scope of just being a photographer. It’s not uncommon for me to hear “I wish we could put you in our pocket and keep you forever!” I’ve been referred as a personal hype-girl, I’ve bustled dresses, tied bowties (which wasn't easy to learn!), pinned boutonnieres, taught my couples how to cut the first slice of their wedding cake, make sure my couple is fed and hydrated. I am your girl, and it’s my job to make sure you have the most positive experience.

What's your favorite part about what you do? *

That I get to witness so much happiness! I feel extremely fortunate that I get to be a part of one of the most important days for couples and create images that will become family heirlooms for others through my art.

What's your favorite part about weddings specifically? *

The cake, of course (just kidding... or am I?)! To say that there's one specific moment or thing would be very hard to pin down, because to me, every very moment has its unique emotional quality to it that I thrive on capturing. I truly get a sense of purpose when I'm able to capture real relationships and interactions, natural laughs, and memories that will last many generations from now.

What has been your most challenging assignment to date? What made it so challenging and how did you execute it? *

I was once hired for high-profile wedding, their day was flawless and there were no issues on the day of. But once I uploaded their images I realized we captured over 12,500+ images (the average amount is around 3-4,000). We tripled the average amount we normally capture! It took a lot of work and dedication to sort through, cull, and edit. But it turned out to be one of my favorite weddings to date and so worth all the hard work that was put into it.

Do you want to offer perspective clients any advice on hiring a professional? *

First and foremost, be sure you’re able to connect with your photographer on a personal level and you trust their work and process. Ask for gallery examples! Not just a few images they’ve shot, but several full wedding day gallery for you to see. Make sure they’re capturing the moments you want to see on your wedding day. See if your photographer provides a photography timeline for your wedding day. I believe having one is essential to a stress free day!
